Resolutions for a healthier, happier you in the new year!

As the holidays come to an end, we reflect on the years past and look to the year ahead. Strive for a healthier, happier you in 2016 with these healthy New Year’s resolutions!
Kick your unhealthy habits.
Make this the year that you finally kick your bad habits! Quit smoking, or cut your alcohol intake. You’ll save money and be healthier! Plus, the confidence you’ll get from accomplishing your goal will improve your overall mood.
Eat healthier.
Add more fruits and veggies to your diet and drink more water! The better you eat, the better you’ll feel! Plus, you may even lose a bit of weight.
Relax.
With busy lives and stressful work, it’s hard to find time to relax. Stress is detrimental to your health, though! It even increases your risk for insomnia, depression, obesity, and heart disease. Reduce your stress in the new year with yoga, meditation, or even a vacation.
Volunteer.
Volunteering will make you feel good! When you help others, your brain releases chemicals that make you happy. The happier you are, the less risk you have for heart disease. Help others and help your heart!
Get more sleep.
The more sleep you get the better you’ll feel! You’ll be well rested, and you’ll also be reducing your risk for obesity and type II diabetes.
Keep in touch with friends and family.
The more you socialize, the better your health. Resolve to contact a long lost friend or relative! Studies have shown that people with stronger social lives tend to live longer.
Further your education.
If you’ve ever considered going back to school, do it in the new year! You’ll feel accomplished and you’ll gain valuable skills. You’ll also strengthen your memory and verbal skills, and you may even reduce your risk for Alzheimer’s disease.
